James Dayton Bennett

James Dayton Bennett, Sr., age 78, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away peacefully Friday, March 29, 2024 in the Autumn Lake Healthcare at Calvert Manor of Rising Sun, MD. Born April 6, 1945 in Beverly, WV, he was the son of the late Gordon and Mary Stuckey Bennett.

Jim was a welder employed by the Aberdeen Proving Ground of Aberdeen, MD. He was a member of the Harmony Masonic Lodge No. 53 of Port Deposit, MD, and the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia Bennett; son, James Dayton Bennett, Jr.; daughter, Nicolle (Matt) Williams; grandchildren: Kye, Kaiden, Jeb, Andrea, Britny; three great grandchildren; sister, Barbara (Robert) Jebsen.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, April 8, 2024, 10 AM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., of Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, April 7, 2024, 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home. Pastor Michael A. Caldwell of the Asbury Church of Port Deposit, MD, will officiate. Interment will be in the West Nottingham Cemetery, Colora, MD.
