Lieutenant Colonel U.S. Army retired James Dee Haney, 82 years, of Perryville, MD, died Memorial Day, May 27, 2019. Born September 30, 1936 in Swifton, Arkansas, he was the son of the late James W. and Anna More Haney.
He is survived by his wife, Marie-Christine Haney; son, Anthony Haney; daughters, Natalie Haney and Patricia Van Note; grandchildren, Eric Haney, Valerie Haney, Nathan Van Note and Max Van Note. His family resides in Maryland where he retired in 1980.
James served 20 years in the military with two one-year tours in Vietnam.
James graduated from Arkansas State College with a degree in journalism and later earned his MBA. In later years he became an avid skier, traveling back to the mountains of Europe many times. In summer he could be found on the Chesapeake Bay enjoying a great deal of time catching crabs for family and friends.
Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
