Thomas Jackson Collins, 85 years, of Cana, VA, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 in the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Born May 30, 1933 in Patrick County VA, he was the son of the late Victor A. and Alpha Mae Collins.
Mr. Collins bravely served in the U.S. Army from 1951 through 1953. He enjoyed life and was never afraid of hard work. He became an entrepreneur, operating various restaurants and trucking companies.
Mr. Collins is survived by his daughters, Linda Collins and Connie Lee Fader (Mike); sons Tommy Collins, William J. Collins (Nina), Christopher J. Collins (Roxanne); step-sons, Daniel VanDyke (Billie Jo), Eric VanDyke (Laura) and Chad VanDyke; grandchildren, Billy Collins, Edward Fader, Leanne Fader, Katrina Shelkin; great grandchildren, Darien and Brooke; sisters, Josephine Norman, Barbara Jean Collins, Laura Mae Mears (Ed), Helen McKnett, Joan Poole, Debbie Butner (Randall), and Denise Liana; brothers, Leon Collins (Rae), Billie Gray Collins (Susan), Danny Collins, Roger Collins (Frances), David Collins, Mike Collins (Cindy), Gary Collins (Kathy), and Steve Collins (Mary).
In addition to his parents, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Marie Moulton Collins; and brothers, Ed Collins and Ray Collins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Woodland Baptist Church, 331 Highland Drive, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, April 2, 2019, 4 PM, at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mt. Airy, NC. Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2019, 3 PM until 4 PM, at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. Rev. Pete King will officiate.
A visitation has been scheduled for Friday, April 5, 2019, 1 PM until 2 PM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., of Perryville, MD. Interment will follow at 2:30 PM in the Conowingo Baptist Church Cemetery, Conowingo, MD.
