Richard Erwin Sharpless

Richard Erwin Sharpless, 82 years, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021 in the Wellhomed Assisted Living Facility of Elkton, MD. Born February 1, 1939 in Westernport, MD, he was the son of the late Raleigh N. and Nellie F. Herrell Sharpless.

Richard was retired from the Wilson Oliver Insurance Agency of Aberdeen, MD, following 47 years of service. He is survived by nephews, Larry Sharpless and wife, Susan, Thomas Sharpless, Steve Sharpless and wife, Sheryl; step-sons, Jerry W. Brown and Michael B. Brown; niece, Carie Sharpless; grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn E. Pierce Sharpless; infant step-daughter, Theresa Marlene Brown; and brothers, Thomas A. Sharpless, Gary W. Sharpless, Paul E. Sharpless, and Daniel R. Sharpless.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, August, 31, 2021, 11 AM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., of Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2021, 10 AM until 11 AM, at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. Pastor Michael A. Caldwell of the Asbury United Methodist Church of Port Deposit, MD, will officiate. Interment will be in Brookview Cemetery, Rising Sun, MD.
