Albert Atkinson Barnes III

Albert Atkinson Barnes, III, 77 years, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Friday, August 8, 2025 in the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center of Bel Air, MD. Born December 1, 1947 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Albert A. Barnes, II, and Elota Davis Barnes Phipps.

Al is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Donna W. Barnes; son, Aaron R. Neely; daughters, Donna L. Bannon, Tammy Willis, and Joy Barnes Clark; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, William (Billy) Barnes; and sisters, Barbara Buzzuro and Dora Roesler.

Al proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Field Artillery Vehicle Maintenance Technician. He served numerous tours in Germany, eventually retiring at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3(CW3). Following his retirement from the Army, Al worked 23 years at Cowan Systems of Baltimore, MD, as a Maintenance Coordinator.

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his sisters, Linda Barnes Turner and Bea Barnes-Yost.
