Betty Jean (Beatty) King

Betty Jean Beatty King, 88 years, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 at home. Born April 28, 1930 in Cabarrus County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Jackson Walter Beatty, Sr. and Henrietta Little Beatty. Mrs. King was a librarian and also worked for various insurance agencies. She was a member of the White Marsh Baptist Church, the Pleasant View Baptist Church of Port Deposit, MD, and  the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. King is survived by her son, C. Michael King and wife, Mary Safrine King, of Novi, MI; daughter, B. Marlene King Backert and husband, James E. Backert, Jr., of Port Deposit, MD; grandsons, Christopher James Backert and Gregory Michael King; granddaughters, Kelly Marlene Backert Ellison and Angela Marie King Bryan; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Nova Beatty Stephens, Nellie Beatty Hatley and Shirley Beatty Love. Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William King, brothers, Jackson W. Beatty, Jr. and Tommy Little Beatty; and sister, Joyce Beatty King Isbell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Pleasant View Baptist Church or the White Marsh Baptist Church in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, September 26, 2018, 10 AM, at the Pleasant View Baptist Church of Port Deposit, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2018, 7 PM until 9 PM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville, MD. Pastor Dr. Harold Phillips of Pleasant View Baptist Church will officiate and will be assisted by Dr. Christopher J. Backert, Executive Director of Fresh Expressions USA and Pastor Dave Tierney, Pastor of the White Marsh Baptist Church. Interment will be Wednesday, September 26, 2018, 2 PM, in Holly Hills Memorial Gardens, Middle River, MD.
