C. Roger Charsha

C. Roger Charsha, 90 yrs, of Perryville, MD, died Friday, June 27, 2014 at his residence. Born November 9, 1923 in Perry Point, MD, he was the son of the late William Wrightson and Mildred A. Jackson Charsha. Roger retired in 1980 from Aberdeen Proving Ground after 37 ½ years where he was employed as a crane operator with the “Old Post Engineers”.  Following his retirement from APG he worked for Neff Construction until 1992. Roger was a graduate of Jacob Tome Institute of Port Deposit, MD, Class 1942, a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church of Port Deposit, MD, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served on the USS Vermillion AKA107during WW II, from 1942 - 1946. Roger is survived by his daughters, Mary Jane Syphard and husband, Jim, of Bel Air, MD, Anne Charsha Tolbert and husband, Tim, of Perryville, MD, and Janet Lynn Deskin and husband, Glen, of Havre de Grace, MD; three grandchildren, Eric Syphard and wife, Laurie, of Bel Air, MD, Lindsey Kramer and husband Chris, of Darien, CT,  and Audrey Tolbert of New York, NY; two great grandchildren, Addie Syphard and Lilly Kramer. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Craig Charsha. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Seasons Hospice Palliative Care, Cecil & Harford County offices in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, July 1, 2014, 10 AM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, June 30, 2014, 6 PM until 9 PM, at the funeral home.  Rev. Ray Graham of Perryville United Methodist Church, Perryville, MD, will officiate. Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery, Port Deposit, MD.
