Carlene Faye (Buser) Poist

Carlene Faye Buser Poist, 80 yrs, of Perryville, MD, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015 in Harford Memorial Hospital of Havre de Grace, MD. Born August 23, 1934 in Hershey, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Frances Mildred Robb Buser. Carlene was a member of the Blythedale Seventh Day Adventist Church where she had been very active teaching Sabbath School and was a former director of Vacation Bible School. She served with the Water Witch Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and had been inducted into the Hall of Fame. She was active with the Town of Port Deposit, organizing playground activities and parties for children when her husband was mayor, and she was a former Girl Scout Leader. Carlene attended the former Jacob Tome Institute of Port Deposit, MD. She was the owner/operator of Poist Custom Draperies and was a very talented seamstress. Carlene also worked for many years as Manager of the Joseph A. Banks store in the Perryville Outlets. Carlene is survived by her husband of 62 years, Donald Nelson Poist of Perryville, MD; daughter, Christine Poist Barclay and husband, Donald, of Perryville; son, Donald N. Poist, Jr., of Elkton, MD; daughter, Kathy Poist Cuomo and husband, Ralph, of Perryville, MD; son, Michael A. Poist, Sr., of Port Deposit, MD; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. Carlene was preceded in death by three grandchildren and sister, Clarice Ann Buser. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blythedale Seventh Day Adventist Church Dorcas Society in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2015, 11 AM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, May 21, 2015, 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home. Pastor Ken Coleman of Blythedale Seventh Day Adventist Church of Perryville, MD, will officiate.  Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery, Port Deposit, MD.
