Charles Francis Cunningham

Charles Francis Cunningham, 78 years, of Perryville, MD, a beloved veteran of the U.S. Air Force, passed away on January 18, 2025, at home.  Born on September 13, 1946 in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Leroy F. and Marian Peters Cunningham.

Charles served his country with honor from 1966 until 1970. He was a lifetime member of the Susquehanna American Legion Post No. 135 of Perryville, MD, where he also served as past Commander. After his military service, Charles dedicated his career to Aberdeen Proving Ground as a program manager until his retirement. In his leisure time, Charles could often be found cruising on his Harley or enjoying the warm winters as a snowbird in Florida with the love of his life. Above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his cherished grandchildren.

Charles is survived by his loving companion of many years, Patti K. Barton; daughter, Stephanie L. White; son, Charles M. Cunningham (Tonya); five grandchildren, Cameron (Merve), Samuel, Scarlett, Delilah, Bellamy; and sister, Phyllis A. Cunningham.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, January 26, 2025, 1 PM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., of Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025, 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Principio Cemetery, Perryville, MD.
