Charles Swan Jackson, Jr., known as Pop-Pop to those who knew him best, died peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends Sunday, March 16, 2014.
Pop-Pop was a hard working father - grandfather who’s quick wit could always steal a smile. He began his career as an Auto Body Technician at Sun Body Shop at an early age. He ran his own shop, “Jackson’s Auto Body”, before accepting a management position with McCoy Motor Company. He worked there for over 25 years before becoming Body Shop Manager at R.L. Jackson, Inc., in 1999.
A life-long resident of Rising Sun and member of Janes United Methodist Church, he is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary Ann (Dolly) Jackson of Rising Sun, MD; sons, Charles Swan Jackson III and wife, Melissa, Timothy Paul Jackson and wife, Leanne, all of Rising Sun, MD; daughter, Robin Ann Jackson and husband, Ken Thorne, of Roxboro, NC; three grandchildren, Charles Swan Jackson IV “Chip”, Samantha Paige Jackson and Timothy Paul Jackson, Jr. “LiLT”; and sister, Mildred Price.
Pop-Pop was loved and will be missed. He now sits with our Heavenly Father where he will get a well deserved break.
In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Ann Kline.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 20, 2014, 7 PM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville, MD. Pastor Harold Owens of Rising Sun, MD, will officiate. Interment will be private.
