Cheryl Graybeal Wiggins

September 18, 1958 – November 2, 2026

Cheryl Graybeal Wiggins, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at home surrounded by the love of her family. Born on September 18, 1958, in Keosauqua, Iowa, Cheryl spent most of her life in Rising Sun, Maryland, where she was known for her caring heart, unwavering faith, and genuine love for others.

Cheryl’s life was a true example of what it means to share the love of God with others. She had a remarkable gift for connecting with people and never met a stranger. Whether in a grocery store, at church, at a family gathering, or anywhere else, Cheryl could strike up a conversation and make anyone feel welcomed and valued. Her friendly spirit, sense of humor, and infectious smile left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Cheryl shared a beautiful marriage of 50 years with the love of her life, Douglas L. Wiggins Sr. Their relationship was an extraordinary testament to the value of mutual respect, commitment, friendship, and devotion. They walked together through every trial of life and came out with a stronger love each time. It was clear to all who knew them that God made them for one another.

It was equally clear that Cheryl was made to be a Mom and a Mom-mom. Together, she and Doug raised three sons, Douglas L. Wiggins Jr., Ryan Wiggins, and Chris Wiggins, who were the greatest sources of both pride and chaos in her life. Her love for them was unconditional and her patience endless. Cheryl's greatest joy, however, came from being a Mom-mom to her nine grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She delighted in encouraging their silliness, celebrating their accomplishments, supporting their dreams, and creating memories they will carry forever.

Cheryl had a special love for holidays and any occasion that brought people together. She found joy in decorating, preparing meals, hosting gatherings, and creating traditions that her loved ones looked forward to year after year. To Cheryl, the greatest gift was having family and friends gathered around her table, sharing laughter, stories, and love. She had a unique way of making every celebration feel special and every person feel at home.

She will be remembered for her generous heart, the endless love she poured into her family, and the countless moments of laughter and joy she brought to everyone. Cheryl's legacy is one of kindness, hospitality, and devotion. Though she will be deeply missed, the example she set and the love she shared will continue to live on through all who knew her.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Robert Graybeal and Agnes Graybeal, her brother, Robert “Bobby” Graybeal Jr., and his wife, Brenda.

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Douglas L. Wiggins Sr.; her sons, Douglas L. Wiggins Jr. (Nehal), Ryan Wiggins (Niki), and Chris Wiggins (Rachel); her nine cherished grandchildren, Sydney, Alyson (Grant), Colby, Christopher Jr., Ryan Jr., Eliza, Lydia, Henry and Alexis; her brothers, Randy Graybeal (Patti) and John Graybeal (Michelle); and many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her presence.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 12 at 11:00 AM at West Nottingham Presbyterian Church in Colora, Maryland, with visitation and viewing prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. Following the service, interment will take place at West Nottingham Cemetery, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory. Rev. Ryan Wiggins of Emory Church in Street, Maryland will officiate.

A separate viewing and visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 11 at Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home in Perryville, Maryland from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Hospice Promise Foundation through Amedisys in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766, in Cheryl's memory. These gifts will help provide compassionate care and support to patients and families facing end-of-life journeys, a cause that is deeply meaningful to Cheryl’s loved ones.

Her family will forever remember her as the heart of their home, a woman whose love knew no limits, whose faith never wavered, and whose greatest happiness came from bringing people together.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23
