David Berkley Byers

David Berkley Byers, 88 years, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024 in the AccentCare Hospice Center of the Christiana Hospital of Newark, DE.

Born June 29, 1936 in Covington, VA, he was the son of the late Everett Payne and Iva Ethel Alfred Byers.

David was a member of the First Baptist Church of Perryville and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was formerly employed as a Havre de Grace Police Officer of Havre de Grace, MD.

David is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Peggy Byers of Port Deposit, MD; sons, Brian Byers and wife Kathy, Christopher Byers and wife Susan; and five grandchildren, Lauren, David, Emily, Henry and John.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Byers; and sisters, Mabel Bicknell, Sue Rawlings, Ruby Wages, and Martha Vest.

David had a special love for all his sisters - Jean, Leona, Shirley, Wilma, Tara that came with marrying Peggy.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, November 13, 2024, 12 Noon, at the First Baptist Church of Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2024, 11 AM until 12 Noon, at the church prior to the funeral service. Pastor Sam Brindley and Rev. Dr. John M.R. Gaugher of the First Baptist Church of Perryville will officiate. Interment will be in Harford Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, MD.
