Donald Norwood Williams

DONALD NORWOOD WILLIAMS of Conowingo, MD, died on Monday, September 12, 2016 at his home. He was 92 years old. Mr. Williams was a lifelong resident of Liberty Grove and Conowingo. He was the son of the late Norwood and Margaret Williams. He was the beloved husband of the late Bessie M. Williams for 71 years before her death on September 11, 2015. Prior to his retirement he was an independent truck driver. Mr. Williams enjoyed visits from his family and friends. He also enjoyed following the Baltimore Orioles, the Baltimore Ravens and NASCAR. One of his enjoyments in the last few years was eating at Spready Oak Café with his buddies. Mr. Williams is survived by his six children; Rodney Williams and wife, Lillie; Darlene Hudson and husband, James; Steven Williams and wife, Karen; Robin Brueckman and husband, William; Carlene McGlothlin; and Donald Williams and wife, Kathy. He had 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Wright and husband, Thomas. In addition to his wife, Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his brothers, Taylor Williams, James Williams and Frank Way; sisters, Lucy and Naomi Robinson; grandsons, Rodney Brian Williams and Matthew A. Williams; and son-in-law, John R. McGlothlin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Society in honor of Candice Williams in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 17, 2016, 11 AM, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Colora, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016, 10 AM until 11 AM, at the church prior to the funeral service. Pastor Dr. David Burke of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in West Nottingham Cemetery, Colora, MD.
