Doris Irene Douglas, 88 years, of Port Deposit, MD, died peacefully at home Thursday, February 8, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Doris is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 70 years, Leonard Douglas; brother, Paul Reynolds (Ginny); sister, Jerolene Lee (Richard); son, David Douglas (Linda); daughter, Sandy Lynch Jones (Tony); grandchildren, Kathy Greenleaf (Mike), Sharon Honeycutt, Ryan Lynch, and Meghan Felts (Greg); and seven great-grandchildren.
Doris, lovingly known as “Mammaw” to all that knew her, was the epitome of grace, selflessness, and God’s love. In addition to her time spent with family and church friends, Doris enjoyed traveling to the “camper” that she and Leonard had on his family land in Elizbethton, TN. She also enjoyed working in the numerous flowerbeds (she loved pulling weeds) that surrounded her Rising Sun home. Doris is retired from the Acme in Rising Sun, MD, after 33 years of employment as a customer service representative.
Mammaw was a lifelong member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and sang in the choir. One of her most enjoyable memories was the trip she and Leonard took to Israel with their church family.
The only thing that paralleled the love she had for her family was her love of Jesus Christ. This was evident in her every personal interaction … always showing kindness and compassion.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her brother, Delmas Reynolds.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Amedisys Hospice Foundation in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766.
