Dot Amos Spence, 88 yrs, of Havre de Grace, MD, died Thursday, February 28, 2013 in Harford Memorial Hospital, Havre de Grace, MD. Born July 16, 1924 in Indian Valley, VA, he was a son of the late Amos D. and Ruth Jane Turpin Spence.
Dot was a veteran of the United States Army have served as Sergeant/Squad Leader Company G, 137th Infantry Regiment 35th Division. For over 30 years Dot was employed by the V.A. Medical Center, Perry Point, MD, as a Nursing Assistant.
Dot is survived by his daughters, Carol Edwards and husband, Wayne, of North Carolina and Nadine Anderson and husband, Charles, of Havre de Grace, MD; sons, Richard Spence and wife, Caroline, and Mark Spence and wife, Kimberly, both of Havre de Grace, MD; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and sister, Flora Pugh.
Dot was preceded in death by his wife, Constance L. Spence and granddaughter, Robin L. Spence.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, March 4, 2013, 12 Noon, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, March 4, 2013, 11 AM until 12 Noon, at the funeral home. Pastor Dr. Harold Phillips of Pleasant View Baptist Church, Port Deposit, MD, will officiate. Interment will be in West Nottingham Cemetery, Colora, MD.
