Edith Rachel (Funk) Simcox

Edith Rachel Simcox, 81, of Port Deposit, MD, crossed over to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; with her loving family by her side, on Saturday, 01 November 2014, at Seasons Hospice Care (Christiana Care), Newark, DE. Coming into this world 19 May 1933 in Cecil County, MD, to the late William G. Funk and Stella Anderson Funk. Married to Delmer F. Simcox for 62 wonderful years. Survived by Delmer and two wonderful daughters: Deborah G. Fortuna (husband Frank) and A. Diane Sexton (husband Steve).  Her pride and joy, two grandchildren: Nathan Sexton and Stacy R. Sexton.  Rachel is survived by two brothers, Rex Funk and Walter Funk, and was preceded in death by her brother Lewis Funk. Rachel loved the Lord; she has been a Christian and a member of Conowingo Baptist Church since age 12 and was active in her church.  She served many years as Church Treasurer & worked in Vacation Bible School. She was a homemaker whose favorite times were spent with her family, especially at gatherings, holidays and birthdays. She enjoyed cooking, canning, farm life, needlework, as well as bowling and watching sports. She was an extraordinary wife, mother and grandmother; who will be greatly missed. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, November 5, 2014, 12 Noon, at the Conowingo Baptist Church of Conowingo, MD. Visitations are scheduled for Tuesday, November 4, 2014, 6 PM until 9 PM, at the church and Wednesday, November 5, 2014, 11 AM until 12 Noon, at the church prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Conowingo Baptist Church Cemetery, Conowingo, MD.
