Ellen (Knauss) Bradley

Ellen Knauss Bradley, 71 years, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018 at home. Born August 17, 1946 in Havre de Grace, MD, she was the daughter of the late Robert Davis Knauss, Sr., and Ruth Owens Knauss. Ellen was employed by the former Bainbridge Naval Training Center from 1964 until the base closed. In 1967 Ellen was voted Mrs. Bainbridge. Following closure of the base Ellen transferred to the Aberdeen Proving Ground of Aberdeen, MD, where she worked in the legal office and CHAMPUS until retiring in June 2005. Ellen was one of the founders of “Recycled Teenage Cruisers” which she named and was the club secretary from its beginning in1985. She was a MASRA member and secretary for 10 years. She received the Lady Rodder of the year award in1996. Ellen is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, William B. Bradley, Jr., of Port Deposit, MD; son, Bryan K. Bradley of Warwick, MD; daughter, Kelly B. Vann and husband, Chuck, of Port Deposit, MD; grandchildren, Brittany V. Spies and husband, Bryan, and Justin (George) H. Vann and wife, Jennifer; two great grandchildren, Jaylin and Paisley; brother, Robert D. Knauss, Jr., of Sandy Lake, PA; sister, Shirley Scott of Spring Hill, FL; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Fire Company of Perryville, the Water Witch Volunteer Fire Company, or the Principio United Methodist Church in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, April 7, 2018, 12:30 PM, in Minker Hall of The Community Fire Company of Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018, 11 AM until 12:30 PM, in Minker Hall prior to the funeral service. Pastor Michael A. Caldwell of Wesley United Methodist Church of Elkton, MD, will officiate. Interment will be private.
