Elton "Al" Earl Doane

Elton “Al” Earl Doane, 79 yrs, of Port Deposit, MD, died Thursday, March 19, 2015 in Seasons Hospice of Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE. Born July 22, 1935 in Clarence, NY, he was the son of the late Warren Earl and Gertude Helena Hamann Doane. Al was a career veteran having served in the U.S. Army, U.S. Marines and U.S. Air Force. In recent years he was the Welcome Center Supervisor of the Chesapeake House, North East, MD. Al was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church of Port Deposit, MD, and is survived by his loving wife, Verna J. Doane of Port Deposit, MD; son, Randall E. Doane of Perryville, MD; step-sons, Johnny R. Newcomb of Lubbock, TX, and Maurice A. Newcomb, of Huffman, TX; daughters, Constance Jean Finney of Lynchburg, VA, and Sharon Marie Wingard of Millers, MD; step-daughter, Dawn R. Russell of Manahawkin, NJ; 8 grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and sister, Earleen Jane Miller of Lynchburg, VA. Al was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Marie Doane and step-son, Jimmie E. Newcomb. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brite Lite Ministry in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, 2015, 11 AM, at Pleasant View Baptist Church of Port Deposit, MD. Visitations for family and friends will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2015, 6 PM until 8 PM, at Pleasant View Baptist Church, with a second visitation Wednesday, March 25, 2015, 10 AM until 11 AM, at the church prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills, MD.
