Evaline Rebecca (Hodges) Holmes

Evaline Rebecca Holmes, 96 years, Perryville, MD, affectionately known as “Mom Becky,” passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024 in the Citizens Care Center of Havre de Grace, MD. Born February 11, 1928 in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of the late John D., Sr. and Lillian Clark Hodges.

Mrs. Holmes had previously been employed by the former Bainbridge Naval Training Center of Port Deposit and the former Canvasback Inn of Perryville.

Mrs. Holmes is survived by her daughters, Virginia L. Hodges Jacques and Ruth Ann Holmes; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Edna Hodges Amaro and Mary L. Hodges; sister-in-law, Pat Hodges; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Holmes; daughters, Margaret Alzina Hodges, Sarah R. Holmes Ahmed, and Mary L. Holmes; brothers, John D. Hodges, Jr., Edward Hodges, and Henry L. Hodges; and sisters, Clarrisa Hodges, Edith Hodges, and Grace A. Hodges.

A graveside service has been scheduled for Friday, April 5, 2024, 12 Noon, in the Cokesbury United Methodist Church Cemetery of Port Deposit, MD. Pastor Lattisha Williams of the Cokesbury United Methodist Church will officiate.
