Fred Samuel Ragan, Sr., age 84, of Conowingo, MD, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home on June 27, 2011. Born in Havre de Grace, MD, on August 22, 1926, he was the son of the late Earl N. Ragan, Sr., and Mary Florence Rando Ragan.
Fred is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy Brown Ragan; seven children, Fred (Freddy) Samuel Ragan, Jr., and wife, Diana, of Plant City, FL; Dennis (Denny) Wayne Ragan and wife, Jeanne, of Rising Sun, MD; Randy Ray Ragan of Conowingo, MD; Roger (Robby) Robert Ragan and wife, Staci, of Aberdeen, MD; Russell (Rusty) Ray Ragan and wife, Shelly, of Elkton, MD; Nancy (Missy) Lee Combs and husband, Rev. Jay Combs, of Elkton, MD; Renee (Punkin) Rae West and husband, Joseph (Joe), of Elkton, MD; three brothers, Frank Ragan and wife, Joanne, of Conowingo, MD; Teddy Ragan and wife, Bonnie, of Conowingo, MD; and Eugene (Jack) Ragan and wife, Gene, of North East, MD; ten grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Mr. Ragan was a U.S. Army Veteran. He owned his own shop, “Fred’s Auto Salvage”, and retired from it in 2000, but he continued to “FIX THINGS” which he loved to do. He enjoyed being with his family, watching Nascar, working on cars, and attending church activities. He will be remembered for his love to fix cars, helping people, telling jokes and his energy for life. Mr. Ragan volunteered his time and mechanic skills to Kent Christian Academy for the bus maintenance from 1978 to 1995. He also volunteered in the kitchen of Elkton Christian Academy from 2005 to 2008. He touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, July 2, 2011, 12 Noon, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011, 10 AM to 12 Noon, at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in North East Cemetery, North East, MD. A Life Celebration Reception will be held at the reception hall of Truth and Life Center Church of North East, MD, immediately following the interment.
