George William Baker

George William Baker, 81 years, of Perryville, MD, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in Seasons Hospice of the Christiana Care Health Services of Newark, DE. Born June 11, 1936 in Port Deposit, MD, he was the son of the late Vernon Cornelius and Keturah Anne McCain Baker. George was a veteran of the U.S. Army and formerly employed as a Prudential Life Insurance Agent. In 1977 George founded Baker & Hughes Inc. of Elkton, MD. George is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna Leone Hamilton Baker of Perryville, MD; daughters, Mary Turah Jones of Wewahitchka, FL, Melinda-Ann Baker Roth of Reisterstown, MD, Monica B. Baker of Towson, MD, Madge A. Baker of Perryville, MD; six grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Eleanor Harris, Ethel Atkinson and Virginia B. Coleman. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his infant son, George William Baker, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, May 1, 2018, 1 PM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., of Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, April 30, 2018, 6 PM until 9 PM, at the funeral home. Pastor Tom Fender of the Church of Christ of Aberdeen, MD, will officiate. Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery, Port Deposit, MD.
