George David Cardiff Mccomas

George David Cardiff McComas, known as Dave, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024, at his home in Perryville, MD.

Born on August 17, 1942, in Baltimore, MD, to the late Cardiff and Erma McComas, he is survived by his wife Peggy; his children Pamela McComas, David McComas, and Caitlin (Andrew) Boone; his sister Elaine Deitzel; brother Dick McComas; grandchildren Cartiff, Evelyn, and Edward “Leo”; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Carolyn McComas.

A long-time resident of Perryville, MD, Dave graduated from Perryville High School in 1960 and enlisted in the United States Army just after his 18th birthday. After his military service, he continued his career in Government service in range control at Aberdeen Proving Ground until his retirement.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Dave enjoyed golfing at Newark Country Club and was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan. He often shared fond memories from his childhood of listening to the Orioles play at Memorial Stadium from his childhood home in Baltimore, MD.

Dave’s easy smile, quick wit, and jovial banter (and sometimes mischief) will be missed by all.

A service will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2024, 2 PM until 5 PM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., of Perryville, MD.

In lieu of flowers, friends and family may make a donation in Dave’s memory to the Susquehanna American Legion Post No. 135, P.O. Box 98, Perryville, MD 21903
