George Adam Woll

George Adam Woll, 80, of Colora, Maryland, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025 with his loving wife of 50 years by his side.

Born February 22, 1945 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Carrie Woll.

George served his country in the United States Navy from 1965-1969 aboard the U.S.S. Constellation, which was instrumental in combat missions against North Vietnam during the war.

Returning stateside, George courted and married Frances Mary Smith in 1975. They shared a wonderful life of 50 years together, hosting cookouts, going to baseball games, and vacationing in Upstate New York. George very much enjoyed fishing, reading/watching westerns, and spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. He was known for a witty sense of humor and could be counted on for a quick joke or comeback.

In his early career, George was employed at Wiley Manufacturing of Port Deposit until its closing. Later on, he worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground for many years until his retirement. George was a life-member of the Susquehanna American Legion Post 135 in Perryville, Maryland.

George is preceded in death by his mother, Carrie Woll, and sister, Betty Younce. He is survived by his wife, Frances Mary Woll, step sons, Gene Paul Bannon, Jr. (Dottie) of Pattersonville, NY, Christopher Bannon, Sr. (Nina) of Port Deposit, MD, Brian Bannon, Sr. of Port Deposit, MD, and Stephen Bannon (Lisa) of Rising Sun, MD. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2025, 11am, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., of Perryville, Maryland. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10am to 11am followed by a service officiated by Father John Abrahams of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Interment will be in Harford Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, Maryland. A meal and celebration to honor George will be held at the American Legion Post 135 in Perryville, Maryland, directly following.
