Goldie Burl Mcdowell

Goldie Burl McDowell, 84 yrs, of Conowingo, MD, died Friday, September 19, 2014 at her residence. Born December 10, 1929 in North Carolina she was the daughter of the late Jesse H. Oliver and Sally Miller. Burl was a member of Tome Memorial United Methodist Church of Port Deposit, MD, and more recently began attending Pleasant View Baptist Church of Port Deposit, MD. Burl was employed by the former Bainbridge Naval Training Center as a seamstress and is survived by her daughters, Virginia Hudson and Joan Geisler, both of Rising Sun, MD; four grandchildren, Mark Hudson, Kristen Hudson-Nichols, Kelly Geisler-Bare, Christopher Geisler; five great grandchildren, Drake Bare, Saylor Bare, Cruz Bare, Brandon Hudson, Ethan Hudson; brother, Robert Miller of Rising Sun, MD; and sister, Virginia Kienzel of Western Springs, IL. In addition to her parents, Burl was preceded in death by her husband, Harry O. McDowell; brothers, William Blevins, David Blevins, Vaughn Oliver; and sister, Elizabeth Hayden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, September 24, 2014, 11 AM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2014, 10 AM until 11 AM, at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. Pastor Michael A. Caldwell of Tome Memorial United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in West Nottingham Cemetery, Colora, MD.
