Harriet Mary (Buckingham) Backert

Harriet Mary Backert, 89 years, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022 in the Hart Heritage Estates Assisted Living Center of Street, MD. Born May 4, 1933 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Evan and Catherine Tinker Buckingham.

Mrs. Backert was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church of Perryville, MD. She is survived by her sons, James E. Backert, Jr., Timothy Backert, and Jack Backert; daughters, Mary Beth Kopso, Cynthia Foertschbeck, and Roxanne Steves; 20 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and sister, Helen Lanham.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Backert was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Backert, Sr.; brothers, Charles Buckingham, Evan Buckingham, and Francis Buckingham; and sister, Margie Hepburn.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, July 8, 2022, 11 AM, at the Pleasant View Baptist Church of Port Deposit, MD. Visitations for family and friends will be held Thursday, July 7, 2022, 5 PM until 8 PM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., of Perryville, MD, with a second visitation Friday, July 8, 2022, 10:30 AM until 11 AM, at the church prior to the funeral service. Rev. Dr. Christopher Backert of Mechanicsburg, PA, will officiate. Interment will be in the Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery, Port Deposit, MD.
