Howard Melvin Jamison

Howard M. “Jim” Jamison, age 91, of Brightview Avondell Retirement Community in Bel Air, formerly of Perryville and Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on September 30, 2012 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. Born on the 5th of November 1920 in Lancaster County, PA, he was the son of the late Howard W. and Leta M. Jamison. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, A. Jean Calloway Jamison of Bel Air. He is also survived by his children, Carol Bernardi and husband, Joseph of Perryville, MD, Robert Jamison and wife, Debra of Florida, Richard Jamison of Chesapeake City, MD, Claudia Kinsey and husband, Stephen Kinsey of Havre de Grace, MD and Cindy Jamison of Havre de Grace, MD. He is survived by 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He is also survived by one sister, Gyla Fuller of Oxford, PA and one brother, Lester Jamison of Nottingham, PA. He retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground after 34 years of service as a Mechanical Engineering Technician. He served in the US Army from 1943 to 1946 in Military Intelligence. After the war in Germany, he was assigned to a group to find and gather Wernher Von Braun and the German Rocket Scientists to ask them to come to the United States and start a Missile Program, which they did. He enjoyed making wall clocks and giving them to family, friends and organizations. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Perryville, having served as trustee and usher. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766. Visitations will be held Wednesday, October 3, 2012, 2 PM until 4 PM and 6 PM until 8 PM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., 1493-95 Clayton St., Perryville, MD. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2012, 12 Noon, at the First Baptist Church of Perryville, 4800 West Pulaski Hwy., Perryville, MD 21903. Arrangements by Lee A.
