Irene Jane (Whitcomb) Cumm

Irene Jane Cumm, age 98, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away Monday, April 25, 2022.  She was born July 31, 1923 to the late Gordon and Norah Whitcomb. Irene was a member of the Fleet Reserve Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She was also a member of the Red Cross for a period of time. Irene was a great cook and enjoyed making lunch, dinner, and pies to be sure everyone was well fed whenever they visited her. Irene loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved shopping and eating out in her later years with her good friend, Joanne McCardell.

Irene is survived by her son, Scott and his wife, Sandy; daughter-in-law, Evelyn; son, Jeff and his wife, Nancy; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 1 great great-grandchild Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wesley Cumm, and son, Randall Robert Cumm. A celebration of Irene’s life will be held Friday, April 29, 2022, 12:00 pm, at the Lee A Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., 1493-95 Clayton Street, Perryville, MD 21903 where family and friends may begin visiting at 11:00 am.
