James Lance Eberhardt, 80 years, of Perryville, MD, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at home. Born in Havre de Grace, MD, in 1944 (Jim would say nineteen hundred and forty-four) to Francis and Elmira Boyd Eberhardt.
Jim was a graduate of the Perryville High School Class of 1962 and continued on to obtain his Master’s Degree from Syracuse University. He was retired from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers following 41 years of service as Resource Management Manager.
Keeping busy following his retirement, Jim served as Mayor of the Town of Perryville for 14 years. During and following his service to the town, Jim went on to become a teacher and taught future government financial employees, passing on his wealth of knowledge to others. Jim was an avid golfer, loved to fish, attend Ravens games, and spending time with his family. He and Ann loved to travel. Their many trips included Europe and the United States. His favorite travels were always to Disney with his family; those were the most special trips and memories.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ann Marie Leary Eberhardt; son, Brian (Kristine); daughter, Rebecca; grandchildren, Jack (Jordon) and Julia; and brother, Mark.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine G. Patterson, and brother, Charles Eberhardt.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Friends of Perryville Outreach Program Foundation, Inc., in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766.
