Jerry Thomas Lawson, 75 years old, of Colora, Maryland, passed peacefully from this life and walked through the gates of Heaven, on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 in Calvert Manor Health Care Center of Rising Sun, Maryland. He was born on June 9, 1940 in Boissevain, Virginia to the late James Thomas and Marjorie Leona Carter Lawson.
Mr. Lawson was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps having served from 1959 until 1963. He was on Embassy duty in Sudan, Africa for two years. He shared many fond memories of his military adventures with his family. He was employed by the former Chrysler Corporation in Newark, Delaware for 30 years and was also the founder and former owner/operator of J & A Heating and Cooling.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Ann Wade Lawson of Colora, Maryland, his daughters, Rhonda Langston (Bill), Kathy Castillo, Andrea Broomell (Chris), and Annette Frisby (John). He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Kate Broomell (Jonathan), Laura Broomell, Joshua Castillo (Kelly), Kara Castillo, Trey Frisby, Wade Frisby, Anna Frisby, and Jordan Langston, and one great grandchild: Ella Mae Cowan. Survivors also include brothers James Lawson (Elaine) and Joe Lawson and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by son-in-law Adrian Castillo.
Jerry was a devoted family man with an abiding faith in Christ. He modeled his faith daily even in the face of great adversity. Jerry drew people to him with his quiet demeanor and deep wisdom. He enjoyed all of his grandchildren and rejoiced in the arrival of his first great grandchild. He touched the lives of many in significant ways, and he will be missed dearly.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for Monday, February 22, 2016 at 11 AM at Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville, Maryland. Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, February 21, 2016, 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in West Nottingham Cemetery, Colora, Maryland.
