Joanne Virginia (West) Hamm

Joanne Virginia Hamm, 90 years, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025 in the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center of Bel Air, MD. Born December 22, 1934 in Marion, VA, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Charlotte Tibbs West.

Joanne was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church of Port Deposit, MD. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to the casino with her husband and sisters, and watching the Ravens.

Joanne is survived by her loving husband of 75 years, Billy F. Hamm; son, Billy Hamm, Jr., and wife, Cara; daughters, Shelvia Daniels and husband Ronnie, and Brenda Smith; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; brother, Bobby West; sisters, Freda, Doris, Debbie, Erma, and Glenna.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Hamm; daughter, Janie Hamm; five brothers; and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, February 21, 2025, 12 Noon, at the Pleasant View Baptist Church of Port Deposit, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, February 21, 2025, 10 AM until 12 Noon, at the church prior to the funeral service. Pastor Dr. Harold Phillips of the Pleasant View Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Harford Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, MD.
