John "Jack" Willson Gilley

John “Jack” Willson Gilley, 79 years, of Charlestown, MD, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025 in the AccentCare Hospice Center Christiana Hospital of Newark, DE. Born November 22, 1945 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late James Layton Gilley, Sr., and Mary Helen Wardell Gilley.

Mr. Gilley was an attorney who began his career with Fidelity and Deposit Insurance Company and later Delmarva Power & Light on the Eastern Shore.  He then spent 10 years in Kansas with his family working for Employers Reinsurance Corporation (ERC) and Hudson International.  After returning to Maryland, he started his own Engineering and Consulting company, Potomac American Group and most recently worked part time as a designated attorney for the Cecil County Court System.

Mr. Gilley is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Pauline A. Stromberg Gilley; sons, John David Gilley and John Christopher Gilley and his wife Dana Lynn Gilley; daughter, Kimberly Anne Gilley; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brothers, James Layton Gilley, Jr., and Edward Joseph Gilley; sisters, Mary Claire Knight and Theresa Smith

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gilley was preceded in death by his brother, Michael D. Gilley.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, February 18, 2025, 10:30 am, at the St. Mark Catholic Church of Catonsville, MD. Visitations for family and friends will be held Thursday, February 13, 2025, 2 PM until 4 PM, and 7 PM until 9 PM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., of Perryville, MD. Interment will be in the Charlestown Cemetery, Charlestown, MD.
