Joseph A. Barker, Sr.

Joseph A. Barker, Sr., 91 yrs, of Port Deposit, MD, died Thursday, June 30, 2016 in Calvert Manor Health Care Center of Rising Sun, MD. Born July 24, 1924 in Wolf Run, VA, he was the son of the late Clyde H. and Bertha Godsey Barker. Mr. Barker was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church of Port Deposit, MD, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and retired from the former Bainbridge Naval Training Center as Supervisor of Maintenance in 1975. Mr. Barker is survived by his wife, Peggy L. Barker of Port Deposit, MD; son, Joseph A. Barker, Jr.; daughters, Ellen J. Johnson and Jacqueline E. Snyder; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers; and one sister. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD  21903-0766. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, July 7, 2016, 11 AM, at Pleasant View Baptist Church of Port Deposit, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2016, 6 PM until 8 PM, at the church. Pastor Dr. Harold Phillips of Pleasant View Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be in West Nottingham Cemetery, Colora, MD.
