Joseph James Orr

Joseph James Orr, age 64, passed away on September 4, 2024, in the early morning hours surrounded by his loving wife and family at home. Joe and Britt were high school sweethearts who fell in love and married in 1978. They just celebrated 46 years of marriage.

Joe was a lifelong resident of Cecil County born December 10, 1959, to the late Fred James Orr and late Doris Lillian (Shea) Orr.  He was raised on his family farm in Rising Sun, MD.  Joe continued farming while he also worked for Cecil County Government in several capacities from Weed Control to heavy equipment mechanic and finally County Roads for approximately 15 years.  Joe was the Operating Manager of Triple-O-Farms in Rising Sun, MD, for the past seven years.

Joe’s greatest pleasures were spending time with his wife, son and daughter-in-law, many grandchildren/great grandchildren, and a multitude of friends. Everyone knew Joe.  No matter where he traveled, he would run into someone he knew.

Other than farming, raising cattle and loving his family, those that knew Joe would often hear him say, “I have a full-time job giving my friends hell and keeping them straight”.  Joe was loved by his community and would literally give you the shirt off his back if needed and would say all you have to do is ask.

Joe loved a good prank and was known to make a practical joke or good-hearted razzing of his friends.  Joe had a heart of gold, always willing to give his time to help anyone.

Joe is survived by his wife Britt-Marie (Wrang) Orr, his son Benjamin Joseph Orr and his wife Barbara, his brother Fred Frank Orr and his wife Autumn, and 5 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the “Cecil County Farm Museum and Regional Agriculture Center” (CCFMRAC) or to The Cecil County 4-H via “Cecil County Fair” (please note in memo line this is a Cecil County 4-H donation in honor of Joe Orr).
