Karen Joann (Michel) Mott

Karen Joann Mott, 74 years, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024 in York, PA. Born August 10, 1949 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Henry Ferdinand and Gertrude Viola Bohr Michel.

Karen was formerly employed as an Emergency Room Tech by the GBMC HealthCare of Baltimore, MD. She was a member of the Water Witch Fire Company of Port Deposit, MD, for 34 years.

Karen is survived by her sons, Ronald Paul Miller and Brian Keith Mott; daughters, Karen Louise Lucas and Lori Anne Hood; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and brother, Henry Frederick Michel II.

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Bernard Mott, Jr., and sister, Marilyn J. Hillary.

Karen was a highly motivated force!  Always out to help the underdog or those in need. She loved driving the ambulance, helping on roadside emergencies and posing as ‘ the Witch’ during parades and fire conventions. She loved to laugh and was good at taking the lead. Her strong personality persevered as she fought off Melanoma. She was a survivor. She loved her kids and was passionate about spending time with her grandchildren. Although, rescuing animals was right up there at the top of her list of priorities. She and her love, Fred, just celebrated fifty years married.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, March 17, 2024, 10 AM until 12 Noon, at Station No. 72 Water Witch Fire Company, 1 Bill Amoss Way, Port Deposit, MD 21904. Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery, 1811 Hopewell Road, Port Deposit, MD 21904. A luncheon will immediately follow the interment and will be held at Station No. 72 Water Witch Fire Company.
