Katherine E. (Weimer) Wein

Katherine E. Wein, 94 years, of Perryville, MD, passed away Monday, February 5, 2018 in the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center of Bel Air, MD. Born November 12, 1923 in Apple Creek, OH, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Elsie Davis Weimer. Katherine was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served from 1944 until 1946. She was very active as a member of the Union Hospital of Cecil County Board of Directors, the Cecil County Library Board of Trustees, the American Lung Association, the American Legion Post No. 135 of Perryville, Women in Community Service/Job Corps, and was most proud of her involvement with the development of the new Perryville Branch of the Cecil County Library. In addition, she was a substitute teacher for the Cecil County Public School System and a GED teacher at the Cecil Community College. Katherine is survived by her children, Michael C. Wein and wife, Lisa, of Virginia Beach, VA, Peter J. Wein of Wilmington, DE, Robert C. Wein and wife, Kathy, of Bel Air, MD, Alfred C. Wein, Jr., and wife, Robin, of Perryville, MD, James A. Wein and wife, Debbie, of Summerville, SC, and Elizabeth A. Ziegler and husband, Dale, of St. Marys, GA; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred C. Wein and brother, Robert D. Weimer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Perryville Branch of the Cecil County Library in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, February 10, 2018, 11 AM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018, 10 AM until 11 AM, at the funeral home prior to the memorial service. Rev. Daniel Meck of St. Paul’s School of Baltimore, MD, will officiate. Interment will be private.
