On September 10, 2015 Kay Preston McGlothlin passed away at 4:18am at her home in Perryville, MD after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Idella Reynolds Preston and William “Bus” Preston of North East. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie McGlothlin Greene, son-in-law Justin Greene, her son, David G. McGlothlin Jr., daughter in law, Jennifer McGlothlin, and grandson Finnegan William McGlothlin. She is also survived by a brother, Robert “Bobby” Preston, and sister, Lana Pierce. She was preceded in death by her brother Richard Preston. Kay is also survived by her sister in law Charlotte Preston, her niece, Christy Preston and her son Jack, her nephew Scott Preston his wife Jennifer and their three sons, Nick, Christian, and Grayson. She is also survived by her ex-husband, David G. McGlothlin Sr. (Jerry) of Aberdeen, MD.
Kay was a 1956 graduate of North East High School, than went to college at West Chester
University graduating in 1963 with a BS in Music Education. She taught Middle School English and Music for several years in Havre de Grace, than became an advertising representative for The Upper Shoreman magazine. She next became an advertising representative for the Cecil Whig in Elkton and was there for over 20 years. She than continued working part time as an ad rep with Accent Printing until she retired in 2013. Kay taught piano lessons at home for many years, sang at weddings, and was also choir director for 20 + years at Perryville United Methodist Church. Kay was well known in this community and touched many lives in both big and small ways, all meaningful. She loved her family and close friends and would do anything for them. She loved music, animals (especially cats!), gardening, and traveling with the girls. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to All Paws Animal Wellness Clinic in Perryville or The American Cancer Society. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, October 3rd at the Minker Banquet Hall, 920 Principio Furnace Rd., Perryville, MD from 1:00pm – 4:00pm to celebrate Kay’s life.
