Lindsay Adam Bond, Jr. (“Butch”) of Salisbury, Maryland departed this life on Friday, December 2, 2022. Lindsay was born on February 15, 1954, to Rosa Lee and the late Lindsay Adam Bond, Sr.
Butch was raised in North East, Maryland and graduated from North East High School, class of 1972. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served 2 tours of duty. While stationed in Germany, Butch met and married his wife, Xenia. After leaving the military, he had a decades long career in Information Technology and recently retired from IAP Worldwide Services as a Senior Field Engineer.
Butch leaves behind his mother, Rosa Lee Brown of Aberdeen, Maryland; wife, Xenia Bond of Kaiserslautern, Germany; daughter, Shannan (Oliver) Bond of Wiesbaden, Germany; brother, Larry (Margaret) Bond of Havre de Grace, MD; sisters, Jacqueline (Anthony) Brown of Elkton, Maryland, Roslyn (Jeffrey) Bond of Baltimore, Maryland, and Wendy (Elidon) Brown-Hasaj of Middle River, Maryland; grandchildren, Joshua and Milou Bond; nephews, Hiram Brown, Jr., and Christopher Bond; nieces, Laura Bond, Isabella Hasaj; several cousins, including (“Bunky” – Lindsay Henson); friends, including his adoptive Italian family in Germany: Flippo, Giovanna, Louis and Mary; and military buddy, James Walker of California.
Butch lived a very interesting life. As a young man he skied, rode motorcycles, and loved sports cars. Butch enjoyed nature, dogs, fishing, traveling and above all, his family. Butch was well-traveled and lived abroad for many years (Germany, Greece, Italy, Korea, Japan, Holland and more). Wherever Butch went, he was sure to make friends; no one was a stranger to him. He was thoughtful, insightful, spiritual, and enjoyed engaging in deep conversations with people he met. Butch spoke multiple languages and immersed himself in the cultures of the far-off lands he visited.
As he got older, he found enjoyment in spending time with his wife, daughter and beloved grandchildren, home improvement, visiting with friends and family—asking how he could help someone or give encouragement. Butch always took phone calls and made time for anyone who reached out to him. He felt called to help others in many ways and could always be counted on to be there when you needed him. He had a big heart and was truly a generous spirit. He will be deeply and sorely missed.
MCVET (Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training, Inc.) is an organization that Lindsay truly believed in. The organization was incorporated in 1993. It is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation designed to provide homeless veterans and other veterans in need with comprehensive services that will enable them to rejoin their communities as productive citizens. Their motto is, “It takes an entire community to help a veteran heal.” Butch was a former “student” of MCVET during 2008 – 2009.
