Lucile “Georgia” Readdy Roach Gransky, 99 yrs, of Perryville, MD, died Friday, May 1, 2015 in Rock Spring Village Assisted Living Community of Forest Hill, MD. Born July 17, 1915 in Augusta, GA, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Lillie Schuler Readdy.
Georgia was a veteran of the United States Navy WAVES having served during W.W. II. Following her discharge from the WAVES in 1946, Georgia worked for Welfare and Recreation at the former Bainbridge Naval Training Center, she drove the bookmobile for the Cecil County Library, and worked for the V.A. Medical Center, Perry Point, MD, in the Clinical Lab and Surgical Research.
Georgia was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Perryville, MD, a charter member of the Chesapeake Unit of WAVES National, a charter member of Women in Military Service for America, a member of Susquehanna Post No. 135 of Perryville, MD, the Susquehanna Unit No. 145 American Legion Auxiliary, the Havre de Grace Chapter No. 27 Order of the Eastern Star, and the Aiken Homemakers.
Georgia and her late husband, Frank, worked with handicapped Boy Scouts for over 20 years. They were awarded the National Torch of Gold from the National BSA, The Cecil District BSA Award of Merit, and the Silver Beaver and Bud Turner Awards for their work with Handicapped Scouts.
Georgia is survived by her sister-in-law, Joan Cembrola and husband, Orestes, of South Plainfield, NJ; Several nephews and one niece.
Georgia was preceded in death by her first husband, David R. Roach; second husband, Wojoech Frank Gransky; sisters, Marjorie Landrum and Dorothy Russell; brothers, George E. Readdy, Edward E. Readdy, and Frederick Readdy;

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 6, 2015, 11 AM, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2015, 6 PM until 8 PM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A, Perryville, MD. Rev. Patricia Drost of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mark’s Cemetery, Perryville, MD.
