Margaret Irene Dixon, 98 years, of Colora, MD, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 16, 2026, passing away peacefully at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center of Havre de Grace, Maryland. Her family was by her side until the very end, providing comfort, love, and a peaceful presence as she took her final rest. Born March 21, 1928 in Rising Sun, MD, she was the daughter of the late Henry Raymond and Olive C. Deckman Burkins.
Mrs. Dixon was a dedicated member of the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church and the Colora Civic Association, and she brought that same spirit of service to her career as a retired telephone operator. She took great pride in supporting her family, serving as the first receptionist for her son’s business, Dixon’s Plumbing, Inc. Before his passing in 2012, she shared 64 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, enjoying a lifetime of camping, square dancing, and using her creative talents to restore antique trunks. She is survived by her sons Ronald L. Dixon (Rita) Francis E. Dixon, Jr. (Christine), and Samuel C. Dixon (Cathy), ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Earl Dixon, Sr.; son, Gerald C. Dixon; brother, Chester R. Burkins; and sisters, Frances V. Miller, Rose. E Giles, and Ruby A. Butler.
