Margaret Elizabeth (Sullivan) Rakes

Margaret Elizabeth Sullivan Rakes, 69 yrs, of North East, MD, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 surrounded by her loved ones. Born November 17, 1946 in Johnson City, TN, she was the daughter of the late Gene Sullivan, her late mother, Pauline Pyle, and her late stepfather, George Pyle. Margaret was a devoted wife to her loving husband of 30 years. Together they enjoyed fishing, camping, and eating crabs. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and shopping any time she could. She was a breast cancer survivor and was a fighter to the very end. Margaret is survived by her son, George Henderson and fiancé, Nichole Foraker, of Oxford, PA; daughters, Maria Gonce and husband, Jeff, of Perryville, MD; Tonya Bauguess of Elkton, MD; sister, Carolyn Cox and late husband, Jack, of Havre de Grace, MD; brothers, Gordon “Steve” Sullivan and wife, Nancy, of Manchester, MD; Gene Sullivan of Louisiana; granddaughter that she raised and loved like her own, Chrissy Henderson, along with 17 other grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren and two on the way. She loved every single one. In addition to his parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Rakes; sons, Larry Henderson, Robert Henderson; sister, Catherine; brother, Bobby Sullivan; and grandson, Michael Collins.                  . Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 30, 2016, 11 AM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, August 29, 2016, 7 PM until 9 PM, at the funeral home. Pastor Bo VanDyke of Christ the King Church of Havre de Grace, MD. Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery, Port Deposit, MD.
