Marion Lee Patterson, age 95, a resident of Cokesbury Village, Hockessin, Delaware since 1986 and formerly of Perryville, Maryland died on May 27th 2012 at Cokesbury Village. He was the son of the late Mildred E. Patterson and Lee A. Patterson.
Mr. Patterson graduated from the Tome School in 1936 where he served as a trustee for a number of years. He graduated from the American Academy of Mortuary Research in New York City and was associated with his father at the Patterson Funeral Home in Perryville until 1963. He later became partner and then owner of the Hartenstine Insurance Agency from which he retired in 1982.
Mr. Patterson was a long time member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Perryville, Maryland where he served as registrar and vestryman. He was a veteran of World War II, secretary of a local Building and Loan Association, member of The Perryville Lions Club and the Susquehanna Post #135, American Legion.
Preceding him in death was his wife of almost 60 years, Ruth Carhart Wilson Patterson. He is survived by a daughter, Lynn Patterson Jacobs (Don) of Cincinnati, Ohio; a son, M. Lee Patterson, Jr. (Sheryl) of London, England; three grandchildren, Don (Jeanne), Stephanie and Audrey, and great grandson, William.
A memorial service will be held at Cokesbury Village on Friday, August 3rd at 2 PM. The interment will be at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Cemetery on Saturday, August 4th at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 337, Perryville, MD 21903.
