Marlene Marie (Boyle) Carrick, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, lived a life defined by love, compassion, and service. Born on March 11, 1952, in the picturesque town of Cape May, New Jersey, she was the beloved daughter of Raymond James Boyle and Hazel Ethel (Roberts) Boyle. Raised in a nurturing home, Marlene carried forward the kindness and generosity her parents instilled in her.
Marlene's journey through life has been marked by dedication to her family and community. She exchanged vows with her beloved husband, Clair E. Carrick Jr., on September 12, 1970, and together they built a home filled with warmth and laughter. Their union was blessed with two loving children, Kathy M. (Carrick) Walter and husband, David, and Jenene A. Carrick, who, alongside her partner Doug Miller, carry forward Marlene's legacy of love and compassion.
Marlene's heart was further enriched by her grandchildren, Amber J. (Carrick-Walter) Anderson and husband, David, and Brittanie M. (Walter) Krauss and husband, James; great-grandchildren, Averie Anderson, Elaina Krauss, and Emmett Krauss. Her beloved great-granddaughter, Ava Anderson, who passed too soon, remains forever cherished in the family's hearts.
A graduate of Perryville High School and Bayview Vocational School of Cosmetology in 1970, Marlene pursued her career with passion and dedication. After welcoming her children, she devoted her time to working in the Perryville School cafeterias and other service roles before finding her dream position as a Toll Collector, ultimately becoming a Toll Sergeant. Marlene retired early due to health reasons, which allowed her to care for her mother, Hazel, in her later years—a gesture reflecting her innate nurturing spirit.
Marlene's commitment to community service was evident through her involvement with the North East VFW and Blenheim Lodge No. 102 I.O.O.F of Aberdeen. She found joy in creating preemie baby outfits with fellow church members, a testament to her boundless generosity and desire to comfort those in need. Known for her warmth, Marlene was always ready with a comforting hug or a hand to hold, offering support to anyone who needed it.
Her brother, James J. Boyle, shares in the family's deep admiration and affection for Marlene, a woman whose life has been a testament to the power of love and community.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations to a charity of choice honoring Marlene's spirit of giving.
