Mary Lynne Hare

Mary Lynne Hare, nee Humphreys, devoted wife and mother, passed away May 4, 2026 in Port Deposit, MD, at the age of 81. Mary was born August 20, 1944 in Dundalk, MD. She grew up there and graduated from Dundalk High School. She lived in Eastfield, MD, for fifteen years before being transferred with her family to Glen Allen, VA, after Western Electric closed. Mary was pre-deceased by her father, Walter Charles Humphreys in 1992, her mother, Mary Ellen Humphreys, nee Booker, of Dundalk, MD, in 1962; and her devoted husband of 54 years, and loving father, Douglas Lee Hare of Glen Allen, VA, who passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022.

She was pre-deceased by her step-father, Louis Allen “Bud” Goodman of Dundalk, MD; her brothers, Wayne Lee Humphreys of Dundalk, MD, Dennis Leroy Humphreys of Nokomis, FL, Robert Louis Goodman of Abingdon, MD, and Charles Murray Goodman of Joppa, MD; and her sisters, Betty Lou Barcikowski, nee Goodman, of Beaufort, SC, and Kathy Louise Good, nee Goodman, of Beaufort, SC.

Mary Lynne enjoyed getting together with family, where she would make her Mom, Mary Ellen’s, famous potato salad. She also enjoyed playing cards, reading romance novels, occasionally doing cross stitch, and visiting Ocean City, MD. She worked for Western Electric for twenty years and was happy to take early retirement.

Mary fought a good, lengthy fight with Alzheimer’s/Dementia and lung cancer, thanks to the excellent doctors and nurses in Bel Air and Aberdeen, MD, and her incredibly supportive family. She is survived by her son, Christopher Clark Hare of Port Deposit, MD; her sisters, Leslie Anne Waliser, nee Humphreys, of Seattle, WA, and Lois Diane Pope, Nee Goodman, of Colora, MD; and many many loving nieces and nephews.

She will be laid to rest with her husband Doug at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens in Middle River, MD.
