Mary Jane Rimel

Mary Jane Rimel, 73 years, of Colora, MD, passed away peacefully at home Friday, May 2, 2025 surrounded by the warmth and love of her devoted family. Born March 4, 1952 to the late Clifton and Dorothy Barnes, Mary lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her work, and her Christian faith.

Mary was a dedicated housekeeper at Ashley Rehab, where she was known for her compassion, work ethic, and warm spirit. Mary’s greatest joys in life were her family and her beloved dogs, Abby (now departed) and Tootsie. She found happiness in the laughter of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her legacy of love will live on through them.

Mary was the treasured wife of Donald Lee Rimel. Together, they share 55 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and partnership. Mary was the adored mother to two daughters, Susan Smith and husband, Other, and Donna Lacilla and husband, Scott; cherished grandmother to seven grandchildren, Kristen Wulkewicz, Ashley Lacilla, Brandon Smith, Anthony Lacilla, Alicia Kelly, Amber Lacilla, and Angela Lacilla. Her legacy continues through her five great-grandchildren, Sophia, Embri, Leah, Delaney, and Hazel, with two more great- grandchildren expected soon.

Mary will be remembered for her selfless heart, gentle strength, and unwavering love. Her presence was a blessing in the lives of all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you hold your loved ones a little closer and remember the grace and kindness Mary shared so freely.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, May 9, 2025, 2 PM, at the West Nottingham Presbyterian Church of Colora, MD. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow the services. All are welcomed to gather and honor Mary’s memory.
