Melvin "Moke" Elwood Boyd

Melvin “Moke” Elwood Boyd, 93 years, of Perryville, MD, passed away Friday, December 30, 2016 at his residence. Born September 29, 1923 in Perryville, MD, he was the son of the late William Harmer and Evelyn Elizabeth White Boyd. Moke was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Perryville, MD, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and member of the Susquehanna American Legion Post No. 135 of Perryville, MD. He was formerly employed by the Philadelphia Electric Company. Moke is survived by his daughter, Karen A. Jones of Perryville, MD; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brothers, James Boyd, Sr., and Arthur (Micky) Boyd. Moke was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen E. Boyd; daughter, Cynthia L. Foster; brother, Harry Boyd; sisters, Irene Smeltzer, Miriam Faye Miller and Shirley  Ann Maskham. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and/or Amedisys Hospice in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, January 4, 2017, 12 Noon, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2017, 10 AM until 12 Noon, at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. Rev. Patricia Drost of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mark’s Cemetery, Perryville, MD.
