Mezzy Grace (Landis) Mackenzie

Mezzy Grace Landis MacKenzie, 82 years, of Bowie, MD, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2022. Born June 11, 1940 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Kenneth H., Sr. and Mezzy Weaver Hale Landis.

Mrs. MacKenzie was a graduate of the Lucy Webb Hayes School of Nursing of Washington, D.C. Following graduation, she was employed by the Sibley Memorial Hospital of Washington, D.C., as a Nursing Coordinator.

Mrs. MacKenzie attended the Pleasant View Baptist Church of Port Deposit, MD. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Friendship Chapter No. 17 of Maryland, Order of the Eastern Star Grand Chapter of the District of Columbia, Pet Partners/National Capital Therapy Dogs/Patriot Paws, and the Lucy Webb Hayes School of Nursing Alumni Association.

Mrs. MacKenzie is survived by her sons, David H. MacKenzie, Jr. (Beppie) of Bowie, MD, and Kenneth A. MacKenzie (Rebecca) of Lugoff, SC; daughter, Sharon M. Wooten (Bryant) of Elkton, MD; grandchildren, Than David, Carlene (Carli) Mozell, Aidin Landis, Emily Kaitlin, Ian Axtell, Cait MacKenzie, Reid Alexander, Jack Andrew and Anne Grace.

Mrs. MacKenzie was preceded in death by her husband, David H. MacKenzie, Sr., and sister, Suzanne L. Patrick.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, November 30, 2022, 11 AM, at the Pleasant View Baptist Church of Port Deposit, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2022, 9 AM until 11 AM, at the church prior to the funeral service. Pastor Dr. Harold Phillips of the Pleasant View Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Pine Grove Chapel Cemetery, Mount Airy, MD.
