Mildred (Garvin) Gorrell

Mildred Garvin Gorrell, 87 yrs, of Perryville, MD, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Catered Living, Cockeysville, MD. Born Sept. 13, 1923, in Rising Sun, MD. She was a daughter, of the late Vernon B. and Sarah L. Garvin. Mrs. Gorrell was a retired mathematician working at APG in the Ballistics Research Laboratory. A graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park at the age of 19, she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She is survived by her three children  Barry Gorrell, Bonnie Horning, Bryant Gorrell and 6 grandchildren;Sarah Kelly, Stephen Horning, Rebecca Horning, Christopher Gorrell, Laura Gorrell and Nicole Gorrell. In addition to her parents, Mrs Gorrell was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin B. Gorrell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gilchrist Hospice in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766. A Funeral service  is scheduled for Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 11 AM , at the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, April 25, 2011, 6-8 PM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville, MD. Father Robert Smith of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will officiate.  Interment will be in St. Mark’s Cemetery, Perryville, MD. Arrangements by Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville, MD.
