Mildred Marie (Johnson) Burkins

Mildred Marie Burkins (Dolly), 82 yrs, of New Providence, PA, formerly of Havre de Grace, MD, died Monday, July 25, 2011, in Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster, PA. Born April 7, 1929, in Havre de Grace, MD, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Eva Howlett Johnson. Mrs. Burkins was a life-long member of the Havre de Grace Presbyterian Church and formerly employed as a Dental Assistant by Dr. James Trone and Dr. Robert Carr, of Havre de Grace, MD. Mrs. Burkins is survived by her children, Joan Burkins, New Providence, PA and Elizabeth Brinton and husband, David, Little Britain, PA; son-in-law, Arthur Barton and wife, Jackie, Colora, MD; grandchildren, Janice Leed and husband, Roger, New Providence, PA, Ronald Barton, Colora, MD, Jeffrey Barton and wife, Teresa, North East, MD, Teresa Reed and husband, Frank, Smyrna, DE, Helen Farmer and husband, Jim, Little Britain, PA; 15 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister, Anne Morris, Ft. Myers, FL; and beloved dog, Mandy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burkins was preceded in death by her husband, William David Burkins (Dave); brother, Hayden Johnson; and daughter, Gloria Barton. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, July 30, 2011, 2 PM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, July 30, 2011, 12 Noon to 2 PM, at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. Pastor Lawrence Metzler of New Providence Church of God and Rev. Jack D. Cohen of Haven Community Church will officiate. Interment will be in West Nottingham Cemetery, Colora, MD.
