Patricia E. Clinger, 94, most recently of Evergreen Assisted Living, Morgantown, WV, formerly of Perryville, MD, passed away July 4, 2014. She was born March 6, 1920 in Perryville, MD, daughter of the late George Ralphe Campbell and Mary Zimmerman Campbell, of Perryville, MD. She lived in Perryville from 1920 until 2006 when she relocated to Morgantown, WV, to be closer to her daughter-in-law, grandson and family. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Pat was a stay-at-home mother and homemaker and later worked as a secretary at the Ordnance School, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen, MD, retiring in 1988 after 24 years of service.
Following retirement, she served as a volunteer for many years at the Good Shepherd Catholic School in Perryville, MD. She was an active member of the Church of the Good Shepherd and the Perryville Senior Citizens. Following the death of her only child, LTC Charles G. Clinger, she donated a stained glass window in his memory to the Church of the Good Shepherd, Perryville, MD.
She graduated Perryville High School in 1938 and Goldey Beacom College in 1940.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Carole J. Clinger; grandson, Carl A. Clinger; great grandsons, Eric and Eivin Clinger, all of Morgantown, WV; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only child, LTC Charles G. Clinger in 1993; brothers, Richard (Dick), Paul (Pete) and Francis (Mike) Campbell; sisters, Josephine Simmons, Rose Gilbert and Margaret Cavil.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2014, 11 AM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2014, 10 AM until 11 AM, at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. Deacon Luke Yackley of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Perryville, MD, will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Mark’s Cemetery, Perryville, MD.
