Paula "Paulie" Sumpter Johnson

On Sunday, December 3, 2023, late in the afternoon, Paula “Paulie” Sumpter Johnson left this life bound for eternity. She passed peacefully and unexpectedly as she slept. Paula was born in Delhi, LA, on July 6, 1956, to Paul and Veronas Johnson.

Paula was the oldest of four siblings; Carolynn Kay, Glendon LaDon, and Ginger Sue.  She selflessly cared for her parents in their golden years. She was fun, silly, sassy, and generous with her love. She would help anyone in need and she adored her children. Paula’s profession and passion were caring for the elderly and children. Her heart was kind, her personality bubbly, and her attitude positive. She will be terribly missed as she was deeply loved. The world is a little dimmer now that her light has moved on.

Paula is survived by her daughter; Rebecca Marshall and husband, James, of Port Deposit, MD; son, William “Buddy” Sumpter of Port Deposit, MD; brother, Glen Johnson and wife, Natalie, of Springtown, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2023, 1 PM until 3 PM, at the Susquehanna American Legion Post No. 135 of Perryville, MD.

We miss you, sweet Paulie! You were a gift to this world. Dance your heart out up there!
